My life journey, along with a combined 20 years of working as a registered psychologist, wellness mentor, and fitness coach, has given me the tools to help many people live happier and healthier lives.
I co-owned and ran a wellness center in a busy part of Perth, where we had a team of health professionals that included a naturopath, chiropractor, massage therapist, life coach, and a personal trainer.
After spending over a decade as a psychologist, I took a break to take care of my family and aging parents. Caring for them and raising a child taught me patience, gratitude, and the importance of taking care of myself.
In my work since the mid-1990s, I've seen the positive effects of different techniques, including traditional psychology and energy medicine, on my clients. This experience has strengthened my belief in a holistic approach to well-being.
My introduction to Reiki happened by chance. A friend shared the contact details of someone they thought was a massage therapist (knowing I love massages). Without much thought, I called and booked an appointment.
Honestly, my first Reiki session was a bit puzzling. I was expecting a deep tissue massage, and I hadn't heard of Reiki before. I mentioned my shoulder tension and the need for trigger point work, but I wasn't really paying attention. I just wanted to relax and hopefully doze off.
Little did I know, the practitioner was a Reiki Master. He didn't talk much, but the energy in the treatment room was calming, and I'm the type to go with the flow. I sensed I was in the right place for whatever was meant to happen.
Surprisingly, after the session, I felt both energised and relaxed, with a clear mind. I had one of the best sleeps in a long time and woke up feeling completely refreshed. Right away, I called my husband and told him he should try a Reiki session with this Reiki Master.
Life took over, and Reiki slipped from my thoughts. It reentered my life when I needed it most – during the passing of my elderly dad, the sudden tragic death of a close childhood friend, and other personal emotional crises. I sensed that I required more than just talk therapy; I felt stuck, imbalanced, and "not quite right." The other energetic modalities I knew from my psychology training didn't seem to fit.
Recalling the positive impact of my earlier Reiki session, I decided to learn Reiki to aid my own healing and restore wellness. The benefits surpassed my expectations. Reiki became instrumental in coping with grief, loss, and emotional turmoil, providing balance, inner serenity, and clarity.
Now, Reiki is a fundamental part of my daily life. Regular self-Reiki practices keep me grounded, balanced, clear, and purposeful.
Growing up, the importance of intimacy, relationships, and connection has always resonated with me deeply. Yet, I yearned to grasp these concepts from an Eastern perspective, not merely through a Western lens. This curiosity led me to delve into the teachings of Tantra. Like many, I initially mistook Tantra for being solely about sex. However, as I dug deeper, I realised that sex and sexual energy represent merely a fraction of Tantra's scope. In truth, Tantra harnesses sexual energy as a vehicle for spiritual growth and connection, offering much broader guidance towards living a balanced, joyful, and conscious life. This wonderful tradition imparts insights on achieving a more satisfying life, stressing the importance of fully engaging in the moment and recognising the sacred in every facet of our being.
What's more, my journey into Tantra helped me uncover that the principles and philosophies of Taoist Tantra had been woven into my upbringing. Embracing the present, mindfulness, cherishing everything life offers, and cultivating self-awareness and connection have been guiding principles in my life, enriched further by my exploration of Tantra.
Helping others has always been integral to my life, both professionally and personally. As a Usui Reiki Master and Tantric Practitioner, I merge my background as a psychologist and wellness mentor with eastern principles and practices, offering a holistic, integrated mind-body approach. My aim is to restore balance and harmony in my clients' lives, addressing their emotional, physical, and psychological well-being.
